General Description:
Position will enable the delivery of Information Technology (IT) capabilities through the use of interdisciplinary approaches
(e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Logistics, and Physical Sciences).
Position may lead and be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle systems engineering activities. Systems Engineer may
perform strategic systems acquisition and migration planning; capture and translate mission and customer functional,
performance, and support capabilities into requirements; allocate requirements to systems architecture components; and
test, validate, and deploy systems. Position may also perform configuration management, maintain schedules, verify
dataflow, manage systems engineering processes that support process improvement, and evaluate technology options and
opportunities.
An A.A. or B.A./B.S. is preferred.

Description: Candidate should have documented experience configuring, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco ISR/ASR routers, Nexus 5k switches, and Catalyst 3750/4900/4948/6500 series switches. The Ability to effectively identify problematic network devices, devise/negotiate a plan to replace, and coordinate with Cisco TAC and/or MEGASTOCK is necessary. Candidate needs familiarity with multi-vendor switching appliances. Knowledge of GVICs, SFPs, cable plant (fiber, copper) distance restrictions/configuration/troubleshooting techniques, and optimal vs. suboptimal environmental conditions. Experience with RedHat Linux OS knowledge (RH4.3 and above) - RHCE preferred, and RHCT minimum is required. Working knowledge of Linux-based systems to include, but not limited to, ssh, scp, pki key infrastructure, kickstart, DNS, and rpm. Should be able to effectively navigate the filesystem, perform basic troubleshooting to include log analysis, system performance analysis, and process management. Able to analyze and interpret traffic flows to identify TCP anomalises, troubleshoot application instability, and identify potential issues with network devices. Able to create, modify and troubleshoot P/NAT statements using various IOS-based commands. Familiarity with Zenoss, MRTG, HP Openview, and Big Brother.
